Howard BeforeHoward AfterAs a trainer there is nothing more satisfying than a motivated client who shows up and does the work and pushes themselves farther than they thought possible. Enter Howard. Howard Martin came through X Factor’s doors in early June like most people just wanting to lose some weight. Like many of my clients Howard had not been active for quite some time, 10 years, and wanted some direction and motivation to help meet his weight loss goals. His daughter’s upcoming wedding seemed to be a great motivator. Howard is our spotlight this month because he has lost 30 pounds and 3 ½ inches off his waist line. Not to mention his blood pressure is down, life insurance premiums have been reduced because of better health, he feels better and looks great.  Most Americans say they do not have the time to be active because of a busy schedule and physical activity just doesn’t fit into their daily lives. Well Howard works 10 to 12 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week and still finds time to be both active and spend time with family and friends. When I asked him what lifestyle changes he made other than training at X Factor, he said it was mostly his eating habits. He started with small things like not finishing everything on his plate and eating slower. Slowing down at the dinner table lets the natural sensation of feeling full have time to kick in so you don’t eat as much. He says "no" to alcohol most of the time and his water intake has skyrocketed.

Before I started with Matt, my weight was 250 lbs and 50% body fat. Now, after training with Matt for over 2 years, I weigh 143 lbs and have 18% body fat. I am now competing in triathlons and marathons. I am proud to say that this year I will be running in the Boston Marathon. Matt has been such a blessing and I would recommend him to anyone.
